Does my Peugeot key have a transponder chip?
All Peugeot models produced since 1995 have an immobiliser system which is linked to a tiny glass passive transponder chip sited in the key. When you try to start your car, if that chip is not present in the key, the fuel supply is automatically cut off. These chips are programmed with a unique four-digit key, it may be on a small blue card amongst your documents. A dealer can take up to ten expensive days to organise a replacement and might even suggest a complete lock and ignition replacement. The great news is that it doesn't have to be like that.
